Nice old school pub
Nice little club. Very welcoming
The club is very clean and often has one really polite and friendly member of staff on
Situated in a quaint village on the west Cumbrian coast. Great venue for functions. Moresby rugby union club was founded in 1925, but it's origins go back rather longer than that. Records are vague but around 1515 during a protracted dispute, between two familys, The Morad's and the Iresby's, about who had the rights to hold and use the historic and influential Finkle Stick, many lives were lost (at least three pigs and two chickens) It was decided by the two elders that after 13 years of fighting the dispute had to end, so they decided to have a contest between the two familys, winner takes all. Deciding to play the popular game at the time of 'spud' or tattie' bashin' where competitors would take turns to 'smash' tatties with there head. I know... if the game had been a fore runner to rugby this story would of been awesome, but it was not to be. Anyway after months of tattie bashing there was no clear winner so all decided to call it a draw, and the Finkle Stick was shared The two familys merged and Moresby was formed. NB A Finkle Stick is used for hitting Finkle's NB If anyone makes a movie out of this, I own the exclusive rights.
Great place for a pint and watching live sport, family’s are always welcome. Also if you fancy playing rugby union this would be a great place to start.
