Described by www.viewlondon.co.uk as “A rare gem in central London”, The Monkey Puzzle offers what most people expect from a great British pub.
With it freshly prepared traditional pub classics such as the fab fish and chips to outstanding burgers, legendary home cooked pies and great sausage and mash (supplied by Biggles of Marylebone, the most acclaimed sausage maker in London).
The range of beers we offer is both diverse and rare in central london: from the Gold medal winner of Badger first gold to the zingy tasty Hopping Hare; from the rarely found, in England, Hoffbrau to the quality cider Applewood. When it comes to Beers wines and spirits we like to think we have it all.
Described as the friendliest staff in London (thanks Dad) we offer all this and more in a warm, clean, intimate environment PLUS a fantastic beer garden which is partly covered and heated.
Now that is enough about us. Come in and tell us about you. We have some great friends and visitors but we always need more.

A very traditional pub located in a modern building doing an excellent job of selling beer to the thirsty! Sedate and tranquil, The Monkey Puzzle (named after the tree?) in Paddington is a great pub, thank you for being there. 🙃
Popped for a couple of drinks as I was at an event around the corner. Found this on Google pubs near me. Very traditional london old school boozer. Great selection of beers and ales and home cooked food. Good for a sports bar, I guess, as all the World Cup Flags hanging up. Bar lady is polite and courteous, and this is hard to find these days. Home cooked food is available too. Big patio garden out back also. Great pint of Morretti.
Very attentive staff. Food is above average I had the steak pie and the gravy it comes with this excellent.. very nice outdoor beer garden.
Absolutely amazing food!! Fantastic service, and what a great atmosphere! The kids ate everything until they were exploding at the seems, and they still went for more! The sticky toffee pudding was demolished so quick I barely got time to take a photo. Bar team made a lovely orange and lemonade substitute for my boys Fanta which they completely enjoyed, and the range of beer, cider and the strawberry gin... I'm running out of adjectives to explain how delicious it all is!!! We will be back again before we leave town!!!!
Stopped here for lunch. The restaurant is much smaller than expected and the food was okay. We had both gotten the fish and chips and while it was a good portion, it was quite bland and some of the batter wasn’t cooked all the way through on the inside. The dessert we got was a chocolate chip cookie dough sundae which was also a bit different because it had like chocolate rice krisipies in between the ice cream and the cookie which was unexpected and didn’t really go with the other ingredients. Overall, it was a cool vibe for a place to have a drink and relax.
