On my first day out to buxton in a while, i thought i'd treat myself to a pub lunch and saw this place. Seemed a nice enough place. I ordered a small shandy and opted for the fish and chips. I sat waiting for a long time for food, even wondering whether to get up on a few occasions and get a refund as i didn't expect to be waiting well over half hour. It's not like the place was packed. When the food arrived, the woman asked if it was ok..the chips were thin, dark, soaked in oil and floppy which i mentioned to the woman that i didn't like the look of them. She replied that they were not oven chips and they were cooked fresh. I was hungry and ate the fish and played around with the chips and ate some, but i felt sick after. Whilst in the toilets, a woman from a table next to me said she wasn't happy with her food either and didn't eat her ham. Wish i'd gone elswhere.

Nice traditional pub with Real ales right in the high street. Beats stopping for a drink at Costa. Didnt have food so cant comment on that but nice atmosphere and decent real ales.

Lovely little boozer, full of character. Staff are lovely and very welcoming and it's a friendly place. Small but excellent selection of real ales on tap, we'll looked after. I didn't eat there.

Popped in for a quick lunch. Nice pub menu and great to see the option of the (actually generously sized) smaller portions. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be back.

Lovely little ale house in Buxton. Cask Marque certificate available to scan. Very pleasant young lady on the bar. Very well turned out pub. Very much enjoyed my pint. Thumbs up 👍
