Situated in the Gorgie area in the west end of Edinburgh, the Tynecastle Arms is best known for being the nearest pub to Tynecastle Park, home of Heart of Midlothian FC. Unlike a lot of football pubs, this place is worth visiting in its own right, as we did. It's a fine example of a classic-looking Scottish pub, in a style which is traditionally Edinburghian. From the dark-stained, varnished bar (perhaps mahogany), to the dim lighting and burgundy leather settees and armchairs, it really is a rather handsome place, with some interesting Hearts memorabilia on display for good measure. Service was prompt and polite, whilst the regulars (mainly 40s and upwards) created a homely atmosphere. The beer is typical for these parts - Belhaven and Tennents - but that said, it is increasingly rare to find a broad selection in Scottish pubs (or anywhere, in fact) these days. A further point of interest is that Gorgie is the location of the North British Distillery, whose distinctive odour was a feature of this part of "Auld Reekie" until control measures were controversially implemented a year or so ago.
Proper bar. Brilliant service and a great pint. Made to feel welcome which is a big thing for me. Top notch!
good place! great Guinness and very friendly staff. And customers are great as well! you are in Scotland ❤️❤️
Excellent atmosphere pre game for Hearts fans
Simple classic old school Edinburgh boozer. Watch the rugby there after a match at Murrayfield.
This bar in Gorgie Road in Edinburgh is the closest to Tynecastle home of Heart of Midlothian football club and is always busy when Hearts have a home game. Bedecked in maroon, the colour of Hearts and festooned with Hearts memorabilia I suppose you could describe it as a Hearts bar, having said that as an away fan I have never had any trouble here. Friendly and boisterous is a good description. The service despite the business of the place was excellent.

One of the most legendary and affectionately considered pubs in Edinburgh and known more commonly as the ‘Diggers’ thanks to it being sandwiched between two graveyards, this is already a common watering hole for many locals and tourists alike.
