A lively traditional pub set in Edinburgh’s leafy Stockbridge. We’re particularly proud of our cask ales, with a regular rotation from a wide variety of breweries – mainly Scottish but we regularly welcome guests from further afield
Our chef has taken standard pub grub and turned it up! From hand crafted burgers and the crispiest IPA battered haddock you’ll ever taste, to more upmarket offerings such as haggis stuffed chicken, pan fried seabass served with mash, sugar snaps and a chorizo glaze or cod, chorizo and sunblushed tomato fishcakes served with homemade tartar sauce and salad. There’s something for everyone at a very good price. Our menu changes regularly with the seasons, so there’s always something new on offer – there’s even talk of a recipe book.
Food and drink aside, the thing that really sets The Bailie apart is the locals. Far from just being a pub, we’re frequently the hub of activity, from regular events like the Tuesday pub quiz to the infamous annual duck race, where we team up with other local pubs, businesses and the Stockbridge community at large to throw two thousand rubber ducks into the Water of Leith in the world’s biggest charity game of Pooh-sticks. We also show all sports on our 3 large screens and we are perfect for a cosy beer and dinner in front of the real fire in these cold Autumn / Winter days.
Came in for some food but in all honesty the menu was extremely overpriced for the quality of food they were serving, it looked good on a plate but wasn’t so tasty. I got the steak ciabatta but the steak was very dry and tough so I didn’t manage to eat it all which was unfortunate considering it cost upwards of £15. The atmosphere was lovely and ir was really warmly decorated for Christmas, definitely felt like a nice environment to be in despite the uncomfortable chairs. Service was pretty slow and when calling over wait staff my friend and I were completely ignored a few times. Probably won’t be back for good but seems like it would be nice enough for an evening drink.
My favourite local pub when I lived nearby. Consistently tasty food, friendly staff and a fun atmosphere all round - whether that was for the pub quiz, when we were in at the weekend to watch football or rugby, or random quieter weekday evenings when we fancied a pint. Nice as well that there is live music on Fridays. A really great traditional pub.
Great service, great food and good old fashioned atmosphere! Have the fish and chips hope you are hungry for the great Serving size!
Cool local bar with some amazing food and vibes. The bar is full of locals and the beer and whiskey are great. We had an amazing Scottish meal and will recommend this place to anyone looking for the local experience.
Had a nice vegetable haggis but it was served with chips instead of mashed potato ! Not really Scottish !! Tried their IPA (Indian Pale Ale) which was quite nice. We were part of a group tour and the staff looked after us all very nicely. Lovely comfortable seats and clean toilets.
