Good friendly service but food wasn't great eg my mushy peas were really hard, friends chicken burger wasn't a burger! A cold winters evg, a lovely fireplace but no fire....cheap electric fan heaters scattered around. Only one ipa at I think £6 a pint
It's a nice place but I think they must have been understaffed as tables were being cleared by new customers and the heating wasn't on....this was at 6pm Friday 22nd December. I haven't rated food as didn't have any as was just dropping in for a swift beer with a good auld boy. I would go back to hopefully see improvement as it's a great pub.
What a lovely place! We were greeted by a lovely lady and seated promptly. We were served by 2 ladies one with long black hair and one with ginger hair and both were so polite, big smiles nothing was too much trouble, we were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the food was absolutely spot on! If you like lamb you'll LOVE the lamb shank here! We had starter's mains and couldn't say no to a sweet treat to finish off. Lovely atmosphere very friendly to all customers that were around us aswell as us, I think we have found our new favorate place to go! Thank you for an absolutely lovely experience.
Just Outstanding! Sunday lunch with Mum and family. 3 of us had the Trio of roast (Turkey, beef and Turkey). And my sister had scampi and chips. All four meals were cooked to perfection. We also had an extra portion of crispy roasties which are beautifully cooked too. This pub has it all it’s beautiful inside and out with exceptional service from all the staff from start to finish. The menu has something for everyone including a good choice of wine at very reasonable prices. You won’t find a better roast dinner at the price The Basset hound charge. Quality fresh produce served within a relaxed atmosphere
Lovely pub. Very cosy, we have been coming here for years and absolutely love it. We noticed a few little additions this time, little touches that warm the place up. We like the lights with ivy in the bar area and we think the blankets are very cute. There is a good energy to this place and look forward to popping in for many years to come. Thank you for always looking after us.
