The kitchen team is headed up by Chef Gennaro Pascarella from Napoli, who creates traditional Sicilian fare in a rustic environment. Chef Gennaro and Max were the recipients of the “Best Restaurant in Southampton” award for Max’s Bar & Brasserie, awarded by the British Restaurant Awards 2018 & 2019.

Overall a nice scenic place. Surprised to see the prices were higher than the website by over 20%. If I knew this beforehand, would have gone elsewhere as the food was good not great. Also had issues with the service – upon entering, there was a large group ordering and I was ignored for 5 minutes until the server was finished with the orders. Not expecting to be seated but at least acknowledged. Well seasoned food however.
Second visit to this fabulous restaurant. Beautiful food, delicious wine with a varied choice available, great cocktails and the service is outstanding. Very much looking forward to returning to try the authentic Italian pizza! If you’re heading to the Mayflower, it’s a great spot for before or after the show. Thank you guys for another wonderful lunch!
Absolutely beautiful meal this evening. Max couldn’t do enough for us. Food was absolutely stunning. One of my children didn’t want ice cream for desert only melted chocolate and strawberries and that’s what he done for us. And my daughter wanted the brownie but there was none left. So he recommended the soufflé instead and she said it tasted even better than a brownie. Thank you max. Would definitely book next time we are in Southampton.
I’ve got back for a snooze after a fantastic 2-course Theatre Menu experience. Fillet Steak - sauce, salad, fries. Done. Tiramisu - Done. The new venue is really well decorated and presented. Plenty of space between tables. I then saw a group booking of 20+ come in, so there’s even extra space behind the scenes! I cannot recommend highly enough. Was in the area for the weekend with a friend and we had a three course dinner with drinks and would really recommend this place. The food was incredible and the service was fab and got us laughing. Good options for vegetarians too! Was also accommodating and said they could make pretty much anything on the menu vegetarian for me, though I ended up going for vegetarian options on their specials board.
