About us

Since the 2002 sale of the church, it has been home to several bars. Designed by Francis Pouget, the Gothic-style Great Chapel was built in 1848, for which trustees had secured the plot or ‘the messuage formerly called The Man in the Moon’ (as described in 1818) for £500-5s. It was recorded by that name in 1739 and also in the will (14 October 1680) of John Hopkins Gent of Newport.

Very busy lunch, food ok not particularly hot. Disappointing selection of beers available now. Used app so not happy when wrong drinks were brought to table. Otherwise it's "spoons" cheap, cheerful and comfy 😎

A causal wetherspoons you always want to be in. Located in Newport in Isle of Wight. Got a beautiful structure from the exterior and interior. Got sitting both inside and outside the pub.

One of the most unique Wetherspoon pubs which I’ve visited. Quick and friendly service and great value.

Beautiful looking place , food was ok , however the JP had been microwaved too much as couldnt be cut through the base, was in a hurry so didnt have time to send it back.

This Weatherspoons had so much character and charm. It's in an old church, and they were in the process of doing a lot of restoration work to the structure of the building. It's a really good-sized pub with lots of seating. There is the normal Weatherspoons menu with something for everyone. Our breakfasts came quickly and were really well cooked. Staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
