I didn't eat here, which is the reason for giving 1 star short of the 5. This is a good pub with a smaller interior, but it also has a very large sheltered garden, with tables which easily allow for social distancing from other groups. The garden also boasts a good size covered stage, which is great for the live music which the landlady supports. Decent beer, a great space & a landlady who cares about her customers.
Love this pub! What I would call your old school type of pub, how they should be before they decided most of them should be restaurants, massive garden out the back with a stage for events they will/have had.
Hi everyone I love going to the malt and hops because the staff are incredibly friendly I enjoy the karaoke evening that happens every month The whole experience of the malt and hops is something to enjoy. I would give the full top marks. It definitely a place to go.
I was having a great night with a few old friends and work colleagues and one of my friends started playing a bame of pool with an old gentleman who lost the game eventually and decided that he would try starting a fight over it, I had only had a few drinks myself and was still sober when I split the two apart the older gent pushed me away. To my amazement the lady on the bar then decided after watching the whole situation unfold that it was us who where in the wrong and kicked us out. Absolutely shocking. A real shame that such a nice evening and catch up ended so abruptly due to the complete arrogance and bad sportsmanship of one lonely old man.
The staff are always friendly here and they have pool tables and a juke box. It is a cash only place so remember to bring money. The drinks range is OK but don't have any ales on tap. The ladies loo was a bit of a mess but probably not the pubs fault that someone had left it that way.
