About us

Disappear into the twists, turns and discoveries of our once-upon-a-time Abbots guest house.

Wallow in the warmth of our twenty one bedrooms, soothed lovingly with Pennine hues.

Relish in the spoils of The Bishops Dining Room and the notorious Hilyard, where food that harks of heritage and skill laden the tables.

Top up in our medieval vaulted pub The Crypt, or simply while away a quiet hour or two in the soft dappled glow of our ancient fireplaces.

Had a wonderful two night break for our 10th anniversary. I can’t speak highly enough of all the staff who made our stay a real pleasurable experience. The rooms are gorgeous and the food is exceptional. A truly memorable experience all round. Thank you so much.

Wonderful, restorative stay at the Lord Crewe. Great value, lovely rooms and food. Well set up for walking and exploring the beautiful setting. Friendly and generous staff. It would be great if there was more than one vegetarian option on the menu - though this is a very minor niggle as the food was delicious.

Our second overnight, and it won't be our least. A charming place, great helpful staff, really good food, including an excellent breakfast, with all staff going the extra mile. Room was comfy, with top quality fittings and furniture. Dog-friendly was an added bonus, and they really were. Top quality! Many thanks.

We just spent two lovely nights in this beautiful little hamlet. The Lord Crewe Arms is an escape from it all. Lovely service, cosy rooms with super comfy beds, fabulous food. It was a rejuvenating tonic that I highly recommend. We loved it!

This is a lovely quirky hotel to stay in away from the world. Our room was excellent with all the usual supplies including great biscuits and fudge. The bar and dining rooms are very different with very friendly service from all the staff. The food was great. We did lovely walks from the hotel on both days. Overall a lovely break away from the world!
