The author George Orwell wrote an article in the London Evening Standard about his favourite fictional pub which he called The Moon Under Water.
When Wetherspoon’s chairman, Tim Martin, had around seven pubs in London, a journalist visited one of them and told Tim he liked the pub and that it was similar to the pub envisaged by George Orwell – in essence, a pub with a good atmosphere, good real ales, food and no music. Tim decided that it was a great name for a pub; in the following years, several were given this name.
Lovely lively wetherspoons, it was a Sunday lunch when we visited and it was very busy. Didn't wait long for a table, the drinks and food were served quickly, it was of good quality and the staff were friendly and efficient. The prices are slightly higher than other spoons, but then the rent on Leicester Square is higher than most other places! 😂
This (photo) is a pathetic excuse of a £10 American cheese burger and they had the audacity to 'hold' it together with long sticks 😂. They forgot the cheese and I've no idea what happened to the lettuce. They did offer to take it back and add the cheese, for an extra fee. I'd sooner go to Mcdonalds for a burger than here again. My son got a kids burger: IT WAS EXACTLY THE SAME AS ADULTS minus the tiny amount of red onion. If you want a decent burger for your money, don't come here. The chips were OK and my step dad's fish and chips looked good. My step dad ordered a larger shandy - they gave him a larger!
Weatherspoon anywhere is my fav place to be..be it a pint of beer or English breakfast everything is amazing. You will find them almost everywhere in UK. Price wise it does not dent your pocket
Your usual whetherspoon super packed and central. You can go in and find your own sit, then decide whether to order via app or going to the counter (QR code didn't work). The food arrived quickly, the drinks were good.
Came here for a quick weekday lunch. It seems like a pretty standard pub with good selection of lunch foods. Lots of locals seemed to stop by for their lunch breaks. They have some deals with drinks and food (I forgot to grab a picture!). Their beverage selection is good also. Their prices are great also! We got their fish and chips which were pretty average, nothing to call home about.
