Hidden gem just off Balham High Road. Perfectly situated in the middle of Balham and Clapham South tube stations.
This stunning example of Victorian architecture has stood as a haven from the hustle of Balham High Road since 1877. The interior design is inspired by this decadent period, when the scandalous Victorians lorded over the largest Empire in history, and Balham was resident to many of London’s most notable characters.
We have recently had a makeover – sparkling chandeliers, an opulent precious gems colour scheme and sumptuous new furniture make the pub feel cosy and elegant. The bar offers quirky rums and tequilas, spirits distilled using historic methods, an expertly compiled wine list and a range of real ales.
When you’ve found your tipple and warmed yourself in front of our roaring log fire, take your drink back to the Florence lounge, recline like a member of the gentry on one of our smart leather sofas and sink slowly into the luxurious velvet cushions.
Peckish? We are very excited to reveal that we have a talented new Head Chef leading the kitchen! Nader has already started to revamp our menu & we look forward to tasting more of his ‘best of British’ dishes. Early favourites include Deep fried goats’ cheese beetroot relish & cranberry sauce and his melt in the mouth Sunday roast beef. As well as our main menu dishes we also have a range of bar snacks, including homemade sausage rolls & crispy pork scratchings – perfect for sharing, or keeping all to yourself!
