A beautiful pub next to Hampstead Heath with one of the finest beer gardens in London. We pride ourselves in great food & drink served by people who care.
We like to think The Garden Gate is much more than just a blimmin' great place to eat and drink in Hampstead. It's a relaxing retreat for all, offering an almost encyclopaedic range of world beers, wines and spirits alongside fresh, seasonal pub food dishes, and a good helping of our own inimitable charm.
Looking for a good pub that's close to Hampstead Heath, Parliament Hill or Highgate? Here we are! The Garden Gate is also near Keats House, the setting that inspired John Keats' most memorable poetry, making us ideal for a spot of lunch or dinner while out seeing the sights.
We love The Garden Gate in Hampstead! The ambience, food, and customer service is incredible. They have a cozy garden patio and it is also very dog-friendly. Our server, Cristina, went above and beyond to make our experience amazing! And she also showed our dog so much love, and we appreciated her so much! We will be regulars here!
The highlight: This pub has beautiful and spacious outdoor seating, which is usually very busy on a nice day! I recommend booking a table in advance via their website. The food needs to be ordered and paid via a QR code and gets served to the table. The drinks need to be ordered at the bar. We visited for Sunday roast - the roast to share had loads of meat. ⛰️ The vegan roast was nice to try, but lacked some flavour and was quite dry even though we used all of the provided gravy. I wouldn't necessarily have it again. I recommend the spiced chickpea salad 👍
Bought Grilled goats cheese 🧀 £7.50, shredded duck salad 🥗 £15.50, plant based burger 🍔 £15.00. Drinks were pricey Aspall cyder £6.15, and £6.10 for a Guinness. The garden has a great atmosphere, but unfortunately the garden shuts at 22:30 due to complaining neighbours that has forced this pub to shut early. Great shame that you can not enjoy the lovely evenings. I think people who purchase a house near a pub, should expect noise, especially that has a beer garden, like the one I live near. It’s a place where people come to enjoy a evening after a hard days work.
Quite an atmospheric pub. We were seated in the garden area which was lovely as the evening rolled in. We had the crispy calamari. Not the best I tried. The shredded duck salad was good. Good portion of duck and veggies. Though overall, their food is quite pricy in my opinion It’s a shame that a lot of stuff on their menu was sold out. Service was ok.
We had some fish and chips and halloumi fries for dinner and the food was great! Good portions for the price paid. Service was fine and we found a table outside but not completely outdoors, which was good because it rained shortly after! The place was full of people and they all seemed to be having a great time.
