Set within a beautiful 18th century residence, this ivy-clad hotel provides an ideal base from which to explore the unspoilt countryside of the England and Wales border.
Boasting a peaceful setting in Llansantffraid, North Wales, The Lion Hotel provides a relaxing rural retreat. It has been carefully updated to provide a range of modern comforts, whilst still retaining its original character and charm.
A modern take on a traditional pub. Good food and drinks and friendly staff. What's not to like.
Only popped into this place on my way to North Wales coast, but very friendly staff and a good range of drinks. Dog friendly and very much appreciated.
We popped into the Lion Hotel most Fridays this summer for their excellent fish & chips. Two weeks ago after asking for a condiment that was missing from the sachet selection available on the table. was told as member of staff was actually walking away from our table “if you look it’s in front of you on the table” I found this rather rude but decided to ignore the attitude. This week same member of staff was asked twice for vinegar we got no reply at all upon the third time of asking we were told in a raised voice “I’ve only got one pair of hands” again this was as the member of staff was walking away from our table. Other diners were visibly shocked by this young ladies attitude at this point too. My husband calmly got up a quietly told her he did not appreciate her attitude and would not be eating or paying for his meal. The rest of our party did eat our meals but will unfortunately not return to the Lion Hotel. This silly girl has cost her place of work around £100 a week for our regular lunches. Later that day we found the same member of staff had been very rude to friends of ours too and that family have said they will not return again either. It’s a shame really because this hotels lounge/bar serves really tasty food in a very comfortable room with a nice relaxed atmosphere
Wonderful staff and delicious food. Everything was fresh and looked amazing when it came out. Toilet was clean and brilliant atmosphere
Popped in for a quick meal on the way home and it was amazing. Staff was cheerful and helpful and the food was brilliant. Toilets were immaculate along with the bar/restaurant area. Will definitely be coming back

Very pleasant village pub in the lower Tanat Valley. Well maintained and very comfortable lounge and separate pool room and bar. The bar has a large screen tv for sports fans.
