The Pev looks a bit lonely on its corner plot, most of its former neighbours were cleared for redevelopment. Clad in green ceramic tiles it stands out, shines even. Its unusual in both its appearance and in its name, which commemorates a famous Manchester to London stagecoach, which in turn took its name from Sir Walter Scott's novel. The man who built the stagecoach, apparently, also built the pub.
The bars fit the odd shape of the building, coming off the central servery at angles. There's a lot of polished timber and the overall appearance is soft and mellow. The pub is popular with students, who dominate the table football.
Great place, great atmosphere and a great pint. Shoutout to Jess and Sam, lovely people - made our night!
Went in on a quiet night, great boozer. Lines clean, great selection. Lovely, friendly bar staff. Special shout out to Sam and Jess! Shall be returning
Excellent pub about 15 minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly Station. Four cask beers on handpump when I last visited including a porter. Not too busy after the Spurs game at Old Trafford.
I was to meet up with a friend in Manchester city centre on a wet Fridayafternoon. I have been aware of the pub for decades but never been in. I decided to call in and have a beer on my way to my meet. It was about 1.45pm. A time I thought would be quiet. It was bouncing. Really busy. A good atmosphere, the sound of people talking. Dozens of conversations. I felt I didn't have enough time, so carried on to meet up. We had a couple of beers and decided to try the Peveril again about 4pm Again the place was busy. Same good atmosphere. Enjoyed a couple of beers. Good service. A pleasant pub which has escaped the ravages of 'improvement.' A pub well worth supporting. 🍻
This was a fantastic bar to visit with friends, with a classic style throughout! This is shown at the very entrance, counter mirrors it and so do the walls with their frames. We played some fun games of pool and I enjoyed a pint of Guinness, sitting comfortably down when not playing!
