Lively town centre bar, originally set up by Country Life Brewery as their brewery tap, but run independently since November 2012. The two regular real ales are still sourced from Country Life and a real ale discount club operates as previously. Large double doors open onto the street in the summer. Quiz nights are held every Sunday and live music sessions are held monthly. No food is served.
Pretty quiet for a Thursday evening, but it's November. Love the new styling, I could quite happily spend the day in the comfy snug up the level with friends
Beer was disappointing, but that's a matter of taste. You should go and try it. Nice to find an out-and-out pub!
Loved this place whilst on holiday. Darts games comfy seats. Very friendly owner or bar staff. Seems like a popular local. Toilets look like a national treasure. Decent cider selection including a 7%’er
I was giving my track and trace details, but when I gave my post code they said they were only serving local people. I understand keeping staff safe, but this isn't the law and I think they just don't like tourists. The restaurant down the street and the other pub were fine with having us, and were really friendly.
Emma the landlady is passionate about running an excellent friendly pub. It is just being redecorated in readiness for reopenning after lockdown (June 2020).
