A proper old time pub in a charming little part of Mayfair. The Kings Arms was formerly known as the Jolly Butcher and is a lovely little pub tucked away in the heart of London.
Established in 1878, this charismatic pub sits in a charming little part of Mayfair. Entering from Curzon Street is like entering Diagon Alley in Harry Potter. You pass through a narrow little passage and a whole neighbourhood opens up with restaurants, shops and proper pubs like the Kings Arms. There may be over 50 pubs in London alone whom share its name, but this Kings Arms is not one to miss as it has been frequented by royalty, as well as celebrity royalty, with the likes of Johnny Depp and rock stars Arctic Monkeys known to have enjoyed a drink within its walls.
In 1660, the site was sold to Edward Sheppard from Nathaniel Curzon for the sum of £8.The King’s Arms pub sign would not have be used in the Common Wealth, but instead is used as proud declaration of loyalty to monarch since the ‘Restoration’. The Restoration of the English monarchy began in 1660 when the English, Scottish and Irish monarchies were all restored under Charles II after the Interregnum that followed the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. Today at the Kings Arms we also show all major sports. The pub is spread over two floors with a bar on each. Solid dark beams hold up the ceiling with rippling plastered walls and a row of windows that look down into the square below.
This place was your classic London pub, but with spectacular service and super friendly staff. I couldn’t believe how happy everyone was that we were just there. The food was really good and the beer was excellent, as usual. Highly recommend for a casual evening out.
My experience at this lovely establishment was beyond compare. From the moment in stepped in i was met with a warm welcome from the friendly atmosphere. The staff were very welcoming but there was one staff member that went above and beyond who’s name is Shane. He made me feel so comfortable and important as he took the time to cater to my needs and offered me his recommendations of what food and drinks to order. Please never let this member of staff go unappreciated as he is a valued asset to your business. I will definitely be returning.
Popped in for sunday lunch, 21st Jan 2024. Was not disappointed! Was looked after by the lovely Shane who was so friendly and made us feel very welcome. Food was delicious and a great atmosphere. Will definitely be returning.
Very cozy place, friendly and approachable hardworking staff. Excellent quality beer and food. Highly recommend the fish and chips. The dessert was also delicious! Highly recommended and will definitely be repeated.
Greene King pub in Shepherds market, Mayfair. Good place to go on a summers day and sit outside soaking up the atmosphere. Lots of office workers here and not so many tourists. A bit dark inside but still a decent pub.
