At Kingarth, we strive to provide a friendly and relaxed atmosphere epitomizing country inn traditions and the heritage of the area. Food is served all day every day from 12 noon until 9pm. Booking is not essential, but is recommended especially during peak times or for larger groups.
Our team of Chefs prepare excellent quality dishes, in a wide variety of styles using fresh, local and Scottish produce whenever possible.
We take a very hands-on role in the running of Kingarth and take pride in employing a team of local staff to help us deliver a high standard of service.
Dine in the Smiddy Bar, the Old Bar, Club Lounge or Function Suite. On fine days we have extensive outside seating with views across the countryside and onwards to Kilchattan Bay.
For chillier days our woodburning stove ensures guests are warm and cosy whilst creating a true country inn atmosphere.
We run a Standard Menu showcasing our most popular dishes, together with an extensive Specials Board, allowing us to utilise all the best local seasonal ingredients. Our Children’s Menu concentrates on well-cooked nutritional children’s favourites.
Inside the main building we have one double and two twin rooms, each with ensuite facilities and with wonderful countryside and farmland views. We also have a separate Courtyard Suite which comprises a double ensuite and a twin ensuite with an interconnecting lounge. This can be let as a whole, or as separate rooms.
Our Club Lounge at the end of the Smiddy Bar, is a private meeting room / dining room for up to 24 guests. A versatile space, it also allows us extended space for larger tables at peak times.
The Function Suite is situated on the seaward side of the hotel, with French windows providing a panoramic view over the old bowling green and farmland towards Kilchattan Bay.
Our Function Suite seats an absolute maximum of 70 guests for a formal meal. You could invite more guests for the evening celebrations should you wish. However, the total number of guests should be no more than 150 as this is the maximum number of guests that our facilities can cope with whilst maintaining our standards of service.

Party of 4 for a pre Christmas meal. For my meal, i had an absolutely delicious (double) burger, fries, with onion rings. It was so filling too. I'd happily order this again
We just visited for a meal so cannot comment on the rooms. A lovely location with a traditional pub feel inside. Friendly staff and the food is good and wholesome.
Went for a meal with my husband. It was lovely. Staff were friendly + hard working. It was very busy.
Beautiful food..But it was very busy on the day we visited..BEST haggis bonbons..Lovely fish...Negative points...Forgotten onion rings and coffee..
An excellent establishment in a remote coastal area of Bute between Kerrycroy and Scalpsie.Indoor and outdoor facilities are excellent, restaurant has a comfortable ambiance. Food is really good. There is a standard menu which is fine but its the daily changing specials advertised on a large restaurant blackboard, that offer exciting opportunities . My tandoori Lamb steaks were very tasty. Nothing like lamb you get in an Indian restaurant which was a good thing. My friend also enjoyed his baked cod. This is a higher glass more gourmet style place , not cheap but you won't mind, cos what you get is worth it. The dessert taster platter is a great idea. Definitely one of the better bute island restaurants.
