About us

Welcome to the King Alfred, formerly Two Brewers, a traditional family-orientated pub situated at the heart of the Somerset village of Street with a friendly and inviting atmosphere, free of music and electronic games machines.

Home cooked food is served lunchtimes and evenings with a comprehensive menu offering snacks, starters, main courses and of course puddings!

A wide selection of Real Ales are available, both regulars and guests.

The pub has an attractive garden, perfect for enjoying a lazy summer drink whilst playing with the children, and a skittle alley for use by local teams and those brave enough to organise their own match!

We have three comfortable letting rooms, each with it’s own en-suite, dedicated parking and free wifi. Created from the stable block, all bedrooms have a view of the pub garden.

Didn't stay in the rooms though I hear good things. I went in to eat. Lovely atmosphere. Bar staff extreamly friendly. Food is all home cooked and done to order so tastes amazing. It does get busy so booking is essential.

Free onsite parking to start with! (We haven’t stayed here as we’re local to street only come for food) Food here is great, we’ve been a couple of times but the best thing is the carvery. Really happy my mum was able to eat here as she has a dairy allergy and she was more than happy with what was on offer. Girl behind the bar serving us our drinks was really kind also. Also if you aren’t happy calling, they’re more than happy to respond via Facebook and have been very helpful. Support local ❤️

What a lovely little pub. Stayed for Sunday carvery, portion excellent, cooked to perfection and served with a smile.

First time here ... one night stay with our dogs. Room v. clean & has small fridge which was a plus. The staff were great fantastic service with a smile both last night in the bar and when having breakfast this morning. The food was excellent last night and this morning ... I'd keep hold of the Chef no way would I let her/ him leave. Lovely green open space 200 yards away for the dogs. Couldn't be happier and would recommend.

We needed somewhere halfway to meet our friends from Corsham ( we were coming from Wellington) and how lucky were we to decide to come to The King Alfred. The staff are really friendly and they made sure that we had everything we needed. The food (Sunday carvery) was perfectly cooked...2 choices of meat..it was beef and pork when we visited and a lovely choice of vegetables to accompany them. The portions are very generous..I failed to finish mine but doggie boxes were provided and my pack of 4 enjoyed the leftovers too. The desserts are not to be missed... even if you can't manage a whole one...share with someone so you don't miss out!!!!!. The prices are very reasonable too. If you get the chance to visit...don't hesitate...
