The Royal Oak is a charming 19th century pub in the village of River near Dover in Kent. Formed from 18th century flint cottages we have been serving the village for over 150 years. A friendly warm welcome compliments our range of real ales, lagers, ciders and stout. From a morning coffee or hot chocolate to a late night spirit we will look after you. Come read the papers, enjoy a cool beer on a sunny afternoon in the garden or a warming cask ale in front of the fire on a winter’s night.
Whatever you prefer we hope to see you soon.
Absolutely lovely place. Held a wake at this location and the staff couldnt have been more helpful. Lovely pub great beer.
I stay in Royal Oak because my family lives near here. It's a lovely local with fabulous rooms well looked after. The breakfast is great too anything you like and nothing is too much bother for them. Even have a dulce gusto coffee machine in my room, TV, WiFi, toiletries and, though it's above a pub, no noise from pub. World class service would recommend for work too. I didn't take pictures because the pictures are the same as on their website. Keep this one in mind.
Absolutely terrible 😞 No television no air-conditioning Roof is 5 foot high with massive light fixtures cannot take your shirt off without hitting them same in bathroom Bed was absolutely terrible could feel every spring and very small for 2 people Cannot wash legs in shower as you cannot bend down due to being so small Cannot sit on toilet without sink in your chest Food was terrible and an embarrassing Locals in bar underneath room were very loud I do not recommend this establishment at all Planned to stay 2 nights cannot do it leaving after 1 afternoon
Fantastic service, the staff couldn’t be more helpful and accommodating. Bridgette was very welcoming. Food was delicious and can’t wait to come again
My other half and I stopped by for Sunday lunch where we were greeted by very welcoming staff. We both had the Sunday roast, I had the pork and my other half had the beef. It was absolutely amazing and the roasts tasted fantastic. Especially the Yorkshire Puddings! We will definitely back.
