With new décor and furnishings, Hudson’s Ale House now boasts a more modern, up-to-date look.
Comfortable booth seating has been added with interesting features such as a bespoke map wall of the local area and a distinctive deep blue bar. Quirky, colourful elements contrast against raw, industrial design features creating a cool urban feel, while original fireplaces remain a cosy reminder of the pub’s rich history.
As part of the refit and focus on real ale an increased capacity for cask ales has been added to the Hudson’s bar.
Guests can choose from 8 real ales including four rotating ales from a variety of local microbreweries such as Calverley’s Brewery, City of Cambridge Brewery and Fellows Brewery, as well as guest beers and well-known brands from Greene King.

Nice quiet pub on a Sunday. Excellent roast, great burger. Nice selection of beers, but would love to see a larger menu. Staff are brilliant. Dog friendly.
Absolutely the best place I eat in a long time. Everything is fresh and done in what I will call "as home made". We will definitely go back and bring friends with us. If you love traditional romanian food or just good food in general this is the place to go. Wish there were more stars to rate ...
Me and my friends found this Pub where they served Romanian Food wich was prepared by Felix and by the way was amazing .best Ever Beef soup and Beans with Roast pork joint. Amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!! James was amazing as well serving us .will definitely come back !!!!!!!!!
I had the Lasagne, which was tasty, but far too much strong cheese melted across the top. This was hot and bubbling when it arrived, however service was so fast, it did not seem as hot in the middle. Pre-cooked obviously. Very nice, maybe food thermometer could assist that point. Side salad gorgeous, the grated cheese on top of that, not necessary with this part, especially with cheese laden lasagne. Allow remaining salad with balsamic dressing to shine on its own, very tasty. Chips were hot and plentiful. Service was a chap who had stepped in last minute due to sickness, juggling front of house, did an amazing job. Think the lady who welcomed me, was in kitchen after the man was ready to serve (we arrived together). General menu is quite small, but varied choices. Dessert option ice cream only, bit disappointing. Duchess of Cambridge formerly Hudson's, yes I look forward to returning. Just be mindful of your food reheat core temperatures xx
I had a very disappointing fish and chips lunch. The fish and chips were rather poor quality for the money, but the 'mixed leaves' that came with it were an absolute joke. The quality and size of these meant that they just weren't worth eating. Service was quick, but I didn't feel that the server responded well to my complaint. The beer I had was fine, but overall things seemed overpriced based on the quality of the experience. I won't be returning.
