I was there for 3 days and didn't get served a beer once. Terrible service. Lovely village though, bunting and everything.
Stayed here as a pub stop over in our campervan on our way home from holiday. Staff very welcoming, had a lovely meal and a few drinks in pub.
We arrived and established that we didn't have a reservation (nothing to do with the H&A). We were made to feel exceptionally welcome nonetheless as other local venues were rung until they found us a room. We had a lovely meal before being shuttled to our new hotel. What should have been a traumatic start to Hadrian's Wall ended up a beautiful beginning that I would not swap. Thanks for your kindness and hospitality Hope and Anchor
If you are doing the walk on hadrianswallpath you have to stopp over at the Hope and Anchor! The rooms are nice and Fran the owner welcomed us so warm and friendly. Also if you just visit the pub it's great and offers different sorts of craft beer. The citchen there is unbelievable delicious diners same as the breakfast!
