This eighteenth century coaching inn, which has been subject to successive make-overs, was reopened in July 2016 by Amber Taverns under the Hogarths brand name. Although branded as a gin palace (it stocks 125 different gins), it offers a full range of drinks including real ale from the company's own brewery in Bolton and up to six real ciders. The large, split-level bar is divided into several areas including more intimate alcoves. To the rear is a paved courtyard with decor sponsored by Strongbow. No food is served.
I popped in here on my own. It wasn’t the cheapest. The staff that served me were nice, but I couldn’t find anyone else to talk to so I left after 1 drink.
Watched the football here and was fairly quiet, plenty of screens. 4* as this random guy punched someone and there was no bouncers around so members of the public had to step in and hold the individual down til the Police arrived.
Popped in to meet some colleagues and wasn't busy at all ,had nice music not loud so that you could actually hear each other speak was great
My DJ Mark Chattell aka MarkyC Had the pleasure to cover for the resident DJ on a Saturday night, to say I had the place bouncing was a understatement, the management and all the team members are just incredible. Comes very highly recommended if you like a party & lively bar... I'm looking forward to working there again in the future...
New seating pods a very welcome addition. It's been a relatively dry month but the air temperature has been very low. Good service, a great pint as always.
