We made friends with pitmasters in Texas, ate pulled pork in South Carolina, baby back ribs in Memphis & burnt ends in Kansas City - meeting some of the friendliest folk on earth along the way.
One journey was never going to be enough, so every year we scour the backroads & highways from Missouri to Mississippi in the name of new recipes to take home. We’re now roughly up to 18 trips to over 70 towns & cities across the states & counting…
The first Hickory’s Smokehouse opened in 2010 in Chester, a year to the day after the first road trip & we’ve been welcoming guests ever since. Warm welcome from the front desk, friendly and energetic staff, great customer service, and I couldn't expect more. Food was awesome, soo tasty and was really full. Couldn't do dessert, but would love to try the frozen custard next time. Would definitely recommend for a American cuisine meal and would for sure come again.
Amazing food, great service and lovely atmosphere
A lovely evening with excellent food and great service. It's a fusion of America's TGIF with the British Pub. An extensive menu.. They helped us celebrate my daughter's birthday which was a total surprise.
A not so hidden gem in Crewe. We went there last month when I was at the Crewe Hall for my wedding with my wife's family, bride mates and my groom's men. We did not have a booking and it was packed when we arrived. We were well looked after at the bar while waiting for a big enough table. The food quality was good. The portion size and flavour were authentic, my wife lived in America for a few year and she could tell. The service was attentive but not annoyingly in your face. At the end when they found out that I was about to get married, they even gave us a gift, which was really heart warming. This is probably one of the best restaurants in Crewe, in terms of its food quality, service and value for money.
We've been to Hickory's a number of times as its such a fun restaurant with good food and great service. Tonight we went for my step daughters birthday meal and it was the best visit yet! Lucy was our waitress, and words won't do her justice on just how fantastic she was! So friendly and attentive, and she made such a lovely fuss of the birthday girl it was smiles all round. Lucy is a credit to Hickory's. The food was fantastic. A couple of dishes to point out as really delicious. The chicken was moist and incredibly tasty. I usually have the Louisiana hot wings to start, but tonight I tried the magic rub instead. It was amazing. So full of flavour! I had the half roast chicken for main and again it was so flavourful and well cooked. Also the fro-co is a must as a lovely finish to the meal. It's so moreish! One dish that was a little disappointing. My partners burger she said was nice, but unfortunately the patty didn't have the crust you get from flame grilling the burger. It almost tasted broiled which is a shame. Still tasty but not quite as good as it could have been. Also wanted to point out the fantastic extra they do for birthdays. The birthday girl was able to take part in making her milkshake which she absolutely loved! They also brought out a doughnut with a sparkler and a message written in icing sugar, which again went down so well. Really made the evening for us. Highly recommend coming here, it's such a great place with great service!
