Amazing little gem a late friend of mine John Watson used to drink here, sadly I never got to enjoy the place with him however having been there now I see exactly why he loved the place. Set in the middle of nowhere a hidden gem of a pub with great staff a friendly atmosphere, couldn't ask for anything more

Beautiful and peaceful place, and very friendly people ! We have everything we need in the house. There are plenty of places to walk around, with our dogs. Full mark!

Lovely cottage in the country with dog walking on the doorstep. Very friendly owners who make you very welcome from day one. The villagers also are great and only happy to share their knowledge of the area. Will definitely consider returning in the future.

We stayed here during the February half term. It was a last minute booking and I have to say it was an excellent choice. I wanted to visit the area again because I had not been to Mid Wales since the early 90s and we used to visit the area a lot back then. The stables were a cow shed until 2008 (see picture) and then converted and they have done an excellent job. It's a nice roomy house and very warm. The kitchen and living room area have plenty of space and there is a good selection of items in the kitchen including, dishwasher and washing machine etc. There is also wifi which works fine and helps you keep in touch with the outside world because there is no mobile signal here. It is a remote hamlet in the middle of the hills and mountains but if you use Whatsapp you can still call people that way. The couple who own it live in the pub/farm at the bottom of the garden and were very friendly. We had milk and butter and a nice fruit loaf waiting for us on arrival, plus a few other bits and bobs. The main bedroom has a king size bed and en suite and the kids were in the second bedroom which has three single beds. There is also a bathroom for them. It snowed quite a bit while we were there and was windy and chilly most of the week but the house was lovely and warm. The pub is just yards away and opens at 8pm. It doesn't do food but the locals are very friendly and by Friday night it was busy and really good craic. They were very good with the children as well. The pub is small though so once you have about 10 people in it it is busy but that just adds to the charm. On the Monday night we were the first people through the door. The next man to walk in was also from Sunderland - 250 miles away! What are the odds? The hamlet is about four miles from the nearest main road and there is a twisty mountain pass over to Rhayader which is six miles away, but one night we came over there and it was covered in sheet ice. You have the Elan Valley on the doorstep which is one of the most beautiful places in Britain with all of the reservoirs and dams. I am glad we went and will certainly look to return, maybe in the summer so we can go cycling in the nearby forests. This is one of the nicest places we have stayed over the years. Certainly worth looking into.
