The Good Companions is a relatively recent addition to Brightons dynamic Seven Dials area, having been brought up to scratch with an ambitious refurb inside and out. It's rare to find a pub this large with such a cosy, vibrant and chipper atmosphere.
The Good Companions really hits the spot. Throw in locally sourced food cooked by an award winning chef, real Sussex ales and world beers, and you've got a winning combination.
The very reasonably priced menu has a huge choice with something to tempt everyone; classic rustic dishes including ox cheeks, homemade pies and beer battered fish, delectable ristottos and salads, a long list of paninis and classic puddings and the kind of impressive bar snacks you expect to see from such a talented chef - you must try the homemade scotch eggs!
A lovely decked courtyard add to the pub's charm, along with a restaurant area and all refreshingly child-friendly. With a team of staff that really go the extra mile, you should definitely check out the function room for any party bookings and events.
Welcoming, warm and frequented by a discerning, friendly crowd. A perfect spot for a night out with friends or family, the aptly named Good Companions really does what it says on the tin.

I cant express how good the food is here! I had pig brisket mac and my partner a chicken basket and it was very very tasty! Epic portions too. My pals ordered nachos and it was a huge plate! Would reccomend this place on food alone. It was also great for us sober people as they had non alcoholic beer on tap which not many do, but I cant stress enough how nice it is not to drink a tiny can of non alcoholic beer while everyone else gets pints of drink for the same cost. Smoking garden is also really nice.
Long wait for food but expected around this time of year. Great roast pork belly. Highly recommend if you fancy a casual, cosy sunday roast. Booking table is recommended.
Decent food, very nice smoking area in the garden at the rear, with decent heaters when it's cold. Friendly young barmaid. Good selection of lagers. Dog friendly. Worth stopping in for a pint and a bite to eat if you're in the area.
One of the best pubs I’ve been to in ages. Went for a friends bday, they had a big part of the pub, but the food was great, staff lovely, great service and drinks, huge outside area. Wish I lived locally so I could Come again!
Good selection of beers and ales. And an impressive garden. Sadly, the kitchen was closed but expected on a bank holiday after 6pm.

With the sort of friendly, laid-back feel more usually found in an old-school locals’ boozer, the Shakespeare’s Head is a gem of a pub situated just off the Seven Dials. Boasting three outside areas, this is a lively yet cosy venue.
