Just how a pub should be; traditional and bustling with local village life. Roaring log fires, well kept real ales and award winning hearty food.
Here at The Old Spot we take pride in serving a variety of good quality hand-pulled Real Ales and Ciders. Ales on the bar change regularly; keep an eye on our Facebook page for any updates on new Beers.
We also provide a range of local ciders both traditional hand-pull and the ‘sparkly’ ones. We currently have draught Weston’s Stowford Press and Thatchers Gold, Black Rat Perry, Rosie’s Pig and the only pub in Cheltenham to serve Robinsons Flagon Cider.
We offer a variety of grapes by the glass, whilst premium wines are available by the bottle. What’s more it is served in proper sized measures and is individually picked by our local wine supplier, Talking Wines.
And if you’re worried about having to drive and miss out on your favourite tipple…We’re on the bus route, the Cheltenham 41 bus stops right outside the door!.

Superb! We visited as a party of 16 for lunch on Saturday and the service and attentiveness was second to none. All the waitresses/waiters were spot on: speedy service and smiley faces! The food was out of this WORLD as well. Portion sizes are small (eat before or be prepared to order 2 or 3 courses) but the price you are paying includes an absolutely spectacular experience. The price of your dish doesn’t reflect the price of the food you’re paying for - it’s the preparation of the kitchen/restaurant/toilets, clean plates & glasses, EXCEPTIONAL service, a warm & cosy setting, accommodating establishment and smiling faces all round. Tip these guys - it’s worth your money.
Brief visit on a pub crawl Sat 7th Jan, decent enough pub had half of Wye Valley Butty Bach and NightJar (keg), both were fine, service friendly enough if a little slow as ladies preparing coffees (a bit of a pet hate of mine). Could do with a more interesting choice of ales hence 4 🌟. Seemed very popular with diners. One of two pubs in the UK - currently - under this name, I've now visited both and this is the better one for sure (other is on the outskirts of Bristol). Pub has plentiful parking at the back and nearby bus stops to/from Cheltenham and Tewkesbury. Best to visit as part of a local pub crawl encompassing also Clovelly & Hind brewery tap, 2 mins walk away, and Swan Inn about 20 mins walk (or use the bus).
We love Sunday roast here but celebrated my birthday last Saturday and had a chance to try other dishes we hadn’t tried before. Limited choices on the main menu but don’t forget to look at the lovely specials on the board. Great quality of food with produce from local farms but also come with a price. For £19.50, I would expect two sea bass fillets. They compensated the dish with a crab meat and prawn spring roll cut into two pieces. Some may like it but if I wanted sea bass, I preferred 2 fillets than 1 with a spring roll. We had a dog with us, so always sat in the bar area. Staff ok, more like trainees in the bar area, probably more professional in the main dining room. 10% service charge we understood, not many people carry cash nowadays.
Fantastic place to stay for a nights stopover in the van. Staff were amazing. Beautiful pub and scenery and the food was excellent. Will definitely stay again.
Lovely setting, plenty of space, including car parking, even when busy and sufficient staff to provide quick and friendly service. Food was good, chips excellent. A few more menu options derived from Gloucester Old Spot pork maybe? Recommended, will go again.
