We are a traditional yet modern free-house and restaurant situated on the edge of the beautiful Forest of Dean and close to the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We are passionate about good food and use locally sourced and seasonal produce wherever possible. We also have a good range of cask ales, lagers, ciders and wines.
Our relaxing bar and restaurant areas feature oak beams and a log fire. For the summer months we also have a large sunny beer garden.

The presentation of the pub was very good, the food was excellent. I had the slow cooked beef and it was perfect. The side of onion rings were the best I have had. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food provided.
Food good, bot a great amount of choice l always busy so leave plenty of time as the service is on the slow side. Wonderful atmosphere I'm sure it would be lovely in the garden during summertime. Not many parking spaces
We had Sunday lunch here. Booked well in advance (this is recommended as it gets very busy!). The waitresses are all absolutely amazing. The food is so good and the concept of only doing Sunday roast as an option works perfectly with such a busy pub! Gary was running around but the waitresses seemed to keep him in check, I couldn't praise the ladies higher! We were visiting Gloucestershire for the weekend and if we lived locally this would definitely be a frequently visited pub.
Booked here for a spot of food today after a morning out. We were not disappointed, the staff were friendly and polite. The food was very good and quick considering how busy it was. We will not hesitate to book/visit again when we're next in the area. Went with a well behaved 5 year old and the staff were brilliant with her.
What a wonderful pub. As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed by the team, who remained attentive and friendly throughout. Exceptional service from everyone we encountered. We were there for roast lunch and had pork and beef, which was all high quality, freshly cooked and presented beautifully. The portion sizes were fantastic! The only complaint was the stuffing, the three of us all only had one small ball each, and while delicious, we all could have done with more. We didn’t have starters, but we did have desserts. The chocolate fudge cake portion was huge! It could have fed all of us. Again, delicious and really excellent quality. The atmosphere was just what you want on a rainy day, cosy, welcoming and with a roaring fire. Even the toilets were good, with added extras like deodorant and hairspray on offer. A really lovely pub, I will be returning.
