The Greyhound Inn has been a focal point in Chalfont St Peter since the 14th Century, set on the London Road and beside the River Misbourne. For more than 600 years, this grade 2 listed Coaching Inn has been providing superb hospitality and refreshment to weary travellers and villagers alike. Notable past guests include Oliver Cromwell, Winston Churchill and the notorious Judge Jefferies who held his assizes here and dispatched his unfortunate victims on the gallows by the river. The only hanging you will witness today is around the historic bar.
Excellent food, service. Lovely family meal. Great pub , love the cosy atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
Unbelievably bad service. My parents stayed here for Christmas, and we accept not easy to get staff at Christmas, however the bed was not made up, no sheets, blankets or pillows. My elderly parents slept in their clothes and coats! No staff to help. Following day staff totally disinterested in helping or apologising. Breakfast pretty poor too. Worst hotel stay they've ever had.
We have stayed at the Greyhound 5 times now, and we always had a good room. Unfortunately, this time, it was not so good. Not particularly clean, no toilet roll holder it had been broken off and the roll was just dumped on the bin, the shower metal tube was broken, so all you could see was a tube. Extremely stingy with coffee and teabags, two of each, but the coffee was one normal and one decaff, not everyone like decaff.
Lovely wine, love the pizza. Amazing entertainment Friday & Saturday. Friendly amazing staff especially the landlord Aaron!! What a legend, caters to all our needs and loves a chat! Best pub in the village!
Comfortable, generally good value with helpful staff. Horrifically let down by atrocious management who have stolen money from me. Two months after my stay and they still owe me for an erroneous duplicate card payment in their restaurant. Have telephoned, emailed, written letters with no resolution. Absolute disgrace.
