Very nice hotel with a warm feeling. Room was well appointed, a bit drafty due to the very old window but no problem. Staff very welcoming. There is a decent sized car park to the rear of the building which is good. Breakfast was very good.
Booked a Boxing Day lunch for five of us including an elderly relative. Always friendly and accommodating on the phone when doing menu choices and access arrangements etc. The Boxing Day experience was great - the service was excellent (staff friendly and helpful), the food was good (£35 for three courses) and the tables and dining room were set/dressed really nicely. The bar is a great place to chill for drinks - hot or cold drinks - parking is spacious and there is a small private courtyard garden for when the sun's out. The disability scooter was parked safely and out of the way and there were slopes to access all difficult areas inside. A real treasure in the heart of Amesbury, and we would happily recommend this place to anyone. Don't expect the world and you'll be pleasantly surprised!
FINALLY somewhere decent in Amesbury to visit! I met a group of friends for coffee and it was such a comfortable place to sit and relax. Felt we could stay as long as we wanted as plenty of space and different areas tucked away. Very good interoir design. Looking forward to trying the food as the menu looked interesting. Shall be recommending to everyone and will be a regular!
Had a lovely stay with The George at Amesbury. Staff were absolutely lovely. Wangled an upgrade as it was my third visit for work in two months. Stunning room and characteristic building. Even more amazing, I checked out of my room, having left some jewellery behind and the management contacted me and arrange their return!
Service from young staff very slow it felt as if they'd had little training and were doing the bare minimum, not overly interested in hospitality. My drink took 25 minutes to arrive and my dinner was cold. Mentioned to staff but no comeback, difficult to take it further when there as a guest to a birthday get together. Not offered desserts until long after we'd finished mains. Not an experience I'd care to repeat. The decor is lovely tho
