This was our first visit to George Stephenson in Walsall. Lovely clean restaurant with a lovely ambience, albeit a little cold. Christina was amazing she got us a heater and was very attentive and friendly. She couldn't have done any more for us during our visit. Toilets were spotlessly clean, which is always a good sign. Chicken was so tender & juicy. The hubby had ribs & he said they were delicious. You can't beat Harvester salad. It's always good. My bread roll was, however, a little dry. But it didn't put me off. All in all, I would most definitely recommend a visit. We will be going back again soon.
Just been for my step daughters birthday meal. Was great. Beth was the perfect waitress. Gave us plenty time to order eat and relax at the end. All 7 off us left very happy. Won't hesitate to come back again.
We were told there was a half an hour wait in food which is expected eating out on a Sunday, however, the salad bar was in appealing with missing items and the ends of lettuce and watery coleslaw. An hour and a half later the food arrives, the haddock was burnt to a crisp so much there was no haddock in the tail end of the fish, the other end was not much better, it tasted burnt and I couldn’t actually cut the tail end of the fish. My partner had the chicken stack and again the chicken was burnt so much it was in edible it screamed acrylamide. Whilst I’m fully aware these things can happen and do happened, how firstly the chefs send it out as acceptable , then the waitress to deem it acceptable is beyond me, it’s not cheap to eat out anymore , there’s no bargains out there and whilst your paying in excess of £12 for a dish you expect it to be delivered in an edible state. Overall very dissatisfied with the food quality and the lack of care for the guest .
Had a lovely meal with family tonight, staff were very welcoming and service was good, Katie our waitress was very attentive. I always enjoy the salad bar at a Harvester, it's a really good choice and a nice start to the meal. For main meal tonight I had the Simply Salmon which was very tasty served over ratatouille and chive mash. My treacle sponge with ice cream was delicious, and there were plenty of options which were all enthused about by a lady that's worked there for 19 years! It wasn't overly busy so, for me, it was a lovely atmosphere. Toilets were clean but the "Mens" were out of order in the restaurant but there's another in the bar. It's a shame that there was a chunk of food under the table left from the last diners. Overall a lovely night and I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again.
The Guinness here is very good and poured properly. The food isn't great however so bland with hardly any taste. The place is generally kept quite clean. I would recommend coming here for drinks but I'd avoid the food sadly.
