Popular with locals and tourists alike, the George’s roots can be traced back to at least 1543 where it stood until the Great Fire of London in 1666. Rebuilt in the 1670s, the historic coaching inn boasts a story behind every nook and cranny. Its striking interior with its warped wood fittings sits alongside a generous cobbled courtyard which is always popular when the sun in shining. A potential haunt of Shakespeare’s, the George proved popular with another British icon, having been mentioned by name in Charles Dickens’ 1857 novel ‘Little Dorrit’. Perfect for all seasons, the George is the ideal place to meet friends and enjoy a pint of ale alongside a plate of traditional British comfort food.

Great pub with bar area and lots of different seating options. They do take reservations. I had the steak and ale pie and it was delicious. It's a lively pub with a great atmosphere.
The George Inn, or The George, is a public house established in the medieval period on Borough High Street in, London, owned and leased by the National Trust. It is located about 250 metres (820 ft) from the south side of the River Thames near London Bridge & the Borough Market and is the only surviving galleried London coaching inn. The staff are friendly and helpful in accommodating & their knowledge of the history of the building. The beers, wines & spirits are varied & good value for the centre of London. Plenty of seating within this establishment, parasols on each table & a heated courtyard with long benches and tables. Definitely worth a visit.
Built in 1864 as a large hotel, the old George Tavern welcomed guests from all walks of life to London’s Isle of dogs. And despite it being remodeled in 1932, The George of today is no different. As one of the few remaining pubs on the Island. There are delicious food, cask and craft ales, premium and spirits, fine wines and heated beer garden. The steak and caramelized onion sandwich with cheese sauce, served with rich beef gravy, is a truly fantastic and delicious menu option. I absolutely love it. Every bite is exquisite, with tender and flavorful beef. The atmosphere inside is as cozy as being at home, and the potato chips are also excellent.
We came here to eat but being from the US, it was hard to tell what we had to do. You order at the bar and they bring you your food by your table number. The bar was busy so we just had drinks and left. The atmosphere is nice, the outside seating was nice, but we did have panhandlers who kept bothering us. Hope you have a better experience but we couldn't speak about the food because we didn't have any. Thank you anyway, George.
There were 3 outdoor screens - the lighting was cute and the view of The Shard was phenomenal. The staff were super friendly and the ambiance was buzzing with laughter and chat. Went back 2 days in a row to try some of the food and the mushroom something (pictured) was honestly the best dish I’ve had my entire life They also have some beer on tap that is local and so flipping cheap I forgot I was in London
