Little gem of a pub! Beautifully refurbished, quite a pleasant surprise when you step inside! Friendly staff and had a lovely chat with the owner. Cheesy chips were amazing! Been back since for one of there amazing burgers, will definitely be back!! Looking forward to trying out Quiz night

First time trying the new Gate on Saturday and we were pretty happy. Food was good (we had Parmo and Chicken), service was really good and a good range of beers. Price really good as well so good value. They’ve spilt the pub well so theres a food area, a bar area (with TVs showing footy) and an area which looks like a bit of both depending on what type of atmosphere you’re after. Was pretty busy with most tables full from 6.30-8 then quietened down so I’d recommend booking (they now have an online booking system on their website). We’ll worth a try

Must be hit and miss for experiences visiting here, as mine was definitely not a bad experience, at all, as other reviews have had. The decor was typical of this sort of pub. Looked good, and typical of family friendly pubs, now, with the checked chairs and such. Liked the map on the wall (same as Queen's head has on the ceilling) When we visited it was a Friday evening so was chocka, as lots of people seemd to have bought the vouchers and were in using them. We had not booked so did end up on a table right near main door, which wasn't ideal as there was also a large group ended up behind us with lots of kids, and the adults constantly going past to bar and toilets, and kids moving around the table and people coming in main doors, past. However, out fault for not booking. Was still okay though. I had the parmo. Parmo itself was absolutely delicious - thoroughly enjoyed that. Nice melted cheese and moist chicken. It was perfect. The chips were slightly over cooked, though. Didn't come with the mayo, as described in menu. Came with some awful purple cabbage coleslaw, which I left as tasted weird and tangy, like vinegary, not creamy like coleslaw usually does. The food presented nicely and wait wasn't too bad. Had the cornflake tart after. This was average. Could tell it had been bought in rather than made, but this is typical of the kind of 'family pub' food, where mains are more likely to have proper home cooked elements and desserts tend to be bought in, frozen ones. There was plenty of waiting staff on duty and they were all lovely and attentive. Can't fault the table service at all. Would be good to have a drinks menu, as well as food menus. Not really sure if it's a pub where you can go just for drinks. I'd go again, for food and a few drinks, but would hope for a table in a quieter area. (Or an adults only area, similar to Dunelm Ridge?)

Big pub. Does contactless. Cheap drinks. Huge bar. Loads of seats, has a Duke box. Could do with a lick of paint but nice local pub. Looks like a nice beer garden. Seating outside front and back with big car park. Not sure if it does food. TVs for sports.
