Casual bar with exposed ceiling beams, banquettes and upstairs grill restaurant, plus outside space.
The Fountain Bar, with its cosy saloon downstairs and the first floor restaurant, was established on the site of the former Fountain Street National School at the end of the 19th century. The bar survived until the Second World War, when it was severely damaged during the blitz of 1941 and had to be demolished.
The Convery family who owned the bar at the time rebuilt the premises in 1955. The Fountain Bar & Restaurant was so called from the two (or possibly three) fountains that were situated in Fountain Street in the 1780s. They distributed water from Mundy's Well near Sandy Row and for many years this was organised by the Charitable Society.
Open each day from 11:30 am The Fountain Bar & Restaurant is a very traditional pub with Tudor design and a warm and friendly atmosphere. The downstairs bar is traditional in style serving premium beers, wines and spirits. Watch your favourite sporting event with an ice cold pint of beer or relax with friends in the outside seating area.

Food was Gorgeous! We all had 10oz ribeye steak , roasted veg , chunky chips, peppered sauce! They were all cooked to perfection! + a few drinks each Would highly recommend , and staff were lovely, very helpful,
4 of us called into the Fountain Bar on Sunday after a walk round the Xmas market (which was very expensive) didn't know you had to book but luckily a table was free. There was no menu today, it was a special Xmas carvery for £13.95 absolutely worth every penny, plate was warm the turkey and ham was moist and delicious the amount of veg, roast potatoes and mash was very generous. Will definitely return in the new year couldn't fault the service either. Merry Christmas to you all at the Fountain Bar.
Splendid Christmas menu. Lots of choice for everyone and food was great quality. In the pictures are salted chilli chicken and the turkey dinner. Service was second to none. Very polite and attentive.
Went for the Sunday Lunch; it was amazing quality and value! Think it was around £13.95 per person, and you get a choice of what meats/veggies you'd like. Very tasty and we were stuffed afterwards. Would definitely go back!
Historic pub with tasty food. Irish chowder is bountiful, loaded with chunks of salmon an white fish, surprisingly large for small portion. The soup is much lighter than the American version. Guinness bbq chicken wings are very tasty, mildly sweet chili flavored. (More than half dozen, no drumsticks :) Medium sirloin is a little over cooked. No longer juicy but still tender. Pie of the day is carvery pie— it’s Monday today and it’s carvery Sunday yesterday 🤔 anyways, the pie is super tasty, the puff crust is crispy and rosemary seasoned. Tender and flavorful pieces of beef, Turkey and pork cooked with onion. The chips aren’t crispy, not a huge problem personally. Pretty quiet upstairs on a Monday evening, but food is great. Service is friendly and prompt, though the table isn’t quite clean or sanitized. It’s an upstairs lounge but still part of a pub.
