Visited for a night to explore the local area before a works event in York. Staff were lovely and friendly before arriving and whilst there. Having booked a table for an evening meal I explained I could be late due to traffic and long drive, they offered to cook me food and have it waiting for me. Fortunately traffic was okay and I enjoyed a absolutely fantastic freshly cooked meal. Rooms were lovely and clean and comfy, good beers and brilliant breakfast. Can't wait to go back
Lovely lunch of steak pie with chips and veg. We were the first ones in the restaurant with every table reserved. Staff very friendly & attentive and parking available in The Square Would be nice to return after a nice walk when the weather is better as very close to The White Horse.
We popped in for a swift pint one dark and wet evening in early November 2023. I have a family connection with the place as my Uncle was the licensee some fifty years ago, and as a kid I stayed there, probably in 1968. I was pleased to see that while the pub has been nicely kept up to date, it wasn't all that much changed. The beer was good, as was the service. We didn't have the opportunity to try the food, but the menu looked good. An odd thing to mention perhaps, but the toilets were so clean and fresh smelling. You don't often get that level of attention to detail in the Gents in a pub. Even in the dark, I could see that Kilburn was much as it has always been. The school opposite that my cousins attended has long gone, but the Willow tree across the road from the pub is still there! It was nice to revisit, and maybe I'll stay there again one day.
Lovely stay, but the room smelt really bad of drainage was a little off putting. I’d read this on a few other reviews but hoped it was a one off. Room was nice and clean, some hand wash, shower gel etc would have been a nice touch. Breakfast was fab, coffee was awful, cold and weak. Staff were super friendly and helpful.
We stayed a night and dined downstairs. It is a superb pub with really nice rooms upstairs. All the staff were excellent and very helpful. The food was superb and we stayed afterwards and chatted to the staff who really helped make our stay that little bit more enjoyable. Breakfast was great! Dog friendly Rooms were clean and well maintained. Pub/Hotel that is well worth using as a base in a great village
