My friend, my dog and me had a really enjoyable visit for lunch. Our food was first class and very good value for money. So good that gluten free bread was available, a necessity for me. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, the staff were very welcoming.
The food here is outstanding. Major credit to the chef. The young lad Elliot was very professional, carm and polite. Unfortunately the other service was appalling. We was only 1 of 3 tables eating in the restaurant and the other tables were on mains or desserts when we arrived so it was not busy at all. Firstly, we ordered drinks then the waitress came back to take our starter order. 20 minutes later our starters arrive but not our drinks. We had to go to the bar for these because they weren't made and the waitress disappears between orders. The wine glass was covered in lipstick all round the rim. When I took it back the man at the bar poured it from the dirty glass to a clean glass and gave the contaminated wine back to me. Our eating time is approximately about 40 minutes but we was there for 2.5 hours because the amount of time to take our next order, to find staff and to wait for the food. We had to wait over 20 minutes for dessert that didn't need heating and we was the only ones in the restaurant. We then waited another 15 minutes after before giving up and walking to the bar to pay. We stood in front of the girl who completely ignored us for about 5 minutes before letting us pay. I think I would rather spend the extra money at Miller and Carter for the same standard of food with a much more professional service.
Beautiful building, I come here a lot just for coffees. Had a roast here for the first time. Good food , small portions and very overpriced. Also service is ridiculously slow. Not sure how they expected me to pour the gravy without making a mess ! Saying this id possibly be back as it’s great for drinks and a snack.
Staff nice and friendly, but they brought out our main meals followed straight after by the starter !!!! Overpriced, starter was Calamari (£6:50)but instead of rings was just little bits (and I mean "little bits), the vegetarian curry (12:95)was a very small portion and the hunters chicken Schnitzel (14:25)was a flat (over) fried piece of chicken with bacon that was not cooked properly !!! Will not be going back and would not recommend. Staff very nice people though. After a couple drinks each your looking at over £50 but would rather an IPA public house for better food.
Service was good, generally the staff seemed friendly and attentive, atmosphere was OK, the pub and restaurant had a nice feel, huge beer gardens which is great. Pond area and gardens appear a little overgrown which is a shame. Food was a little underwhelming, I had the chicken club sandwhich, which was tiny but tasted nice.
