144 Ongar Road, Brentwood, Essex, CM15 9DJ
We are a family-run pub. We are child-friendly and well-behaved dogs are very welcome. A bowl of water and dog treats are always available.
The Rising Sun has a well-stocked bar with all tipples covered including traditional beers, lagers, ciders, spirits, wines and soft drinks. For the real ale experts amongst us, we have a constantly changing selection ranging from porters and stouts right through to lighter, more hoppy affairs. We have five cask ales on tap, always with one guest ale from Brentwood Brewing Company, our local brewery only half a mile down the road. Robinson’s Trooper is another firm favourite guest ale.
Also available on tap are Guinness, Carlsberg, Foster’s lager and San Miguel. Recognised by CAMRA (the only Brentwood pub to feature in ‘The Good Beer Guide 2015’). And we received full marks in our Cask Marque accreditation give our ales an enviable reputation.
In the winter months all of the above can be enjoyed sitting next to our open fire, if you fall asleep we might need to give you a gentle nudge but only if you start to snore! During the summer why not sit in our newly-extended patio garden?
We stock a wide variety of bar nibbles, including pickled eggs and on Sundays our guests are treated to roast potatoes and home-made bread pudding.
We believe that The Rising Sun is at the heart of the Community – and the Community is at the heart of The Rising Sun.
Do drop in – we would love to see you.
Our Function Room is available for hire for special events, parties and wakes.
