A traditional pub with a rustic feel in the heart of the historic town of Lewes, situated opposite Harvey's Brewery and next to the River Ouse.

Out of all the pubs we visited in Lewes, this was the most disappointing. Inside, it does still retain the lovely original features and fireplace. However, the pub requires a good clean. There were more locals than tourists. I had a glass of wine, which was pretty awful.
Very nice Taproom in lewes,lovely beer,and food looked nice,but a bit pricey.cheers
Excellent traditional pub serving great beer and lovely food. Worth a visit!
The place you need to eat if you're in Lewes. John Harvey Tavern is a proper British pub with good beer, good food and pleasing ambience. Friendly staff. The food is very reasonably priced and good value for money. Walk down the hill from the castle, past the crossing (and the overly priced trendy cafe) and you'll find the pub on the right, just over the bridge. It's a Harvey's pub, with the full range of beers - and just across the road from the brewery. Perfect.
Lovely pub. Looking a bit tired now but that's the charm. It's a locals and tourists pub. Great selection of Harvey's 🍻. But I have to go for a pint of Best. My favourite.

The Dorset is one of Harvey & Son’s oldest pubs, built in 1670 on the site of an illegal workhouse, and is about 100 steps from the famous Bridge Wharf brewery. Parts of the original building still form areas of the pub today.
