One of the best real pubs in Plymouth. Always a warm welcome.
Possibly the most authentic atmospheric pub you could find set in the middle of Plymouth’s historic Barbican. Famous for the association with Beryl Cook and the Tolpuddle Martyrs this pub offers an incredible experience. At least 7 real ales on tap and famous for cask Bass. No food served but you’re welcome to bring your own with pasties and fish n chips all available next door. A proper Janner highlight of A Plymouth day out.
First time at the Dolphin Hotel. What a fantastic atmosphere a really old bar spit and sawdust they serve fantastic ales. The owners really friendly make you feel welcome. In a really lovely old part of the Ho in Plymouth
Great afternoon at the Dolphin with great friends. As an ex-publican I feel I have a unique ability to judge the quality of what a pub has to offer. As soon as i entered I knew that this was my idea of what a pub should be like. There was a loud buzz of conversation and a homely feel about the place which along with a superb pint of Bass. or 3 brought a continuous smile to my face. Drink with conversation, proper old school yet still appealing to the younger generation. To top it off they just happen to have a wonderful Chippy nearly next door from where we had a carry-out, and ate it right there on the bar table. Left after a few hours wishing desperately that I lived in Plymouth,
Perhaps my favourite pub in the South West. Wonderfully preserved in an ever changing world, this pub has remained the same since I started drinking some 45yrs ago. Oozes character. Best kept Bass and Tribute for miles around, straight out of the barrel. An absolute gem, but don't tell anyone, I don't want it to get too busy!
