Yes that's right... this is because they are all governed by 'Reinheitsgebot' which is also known as the 'German beer purity law'.
By insisting in 1516 that the only ingredients used for the brewing of beer must be barley, hops and water (and later yeast) it ensured the quality of a product and threatened legal sanction against transgressors hundreds of years before anybody had heard of consumer protection laws.
Five hundred years ago water supplies were often polluted so people drank beer, often in vast quantities, to keep thirst at bay. If only that was still acceptable now.. eh?
By ensuring beer contained only high-quality products the law protected the public from poor standard, and potentially lethal, beverages.
