If there is one thing I can say, the food servings are massive. You can literally share one order of anything. The area is pet friendly and the staff were so amazing. I would love to come and visit this place again maybe in the summer.
Booked a last minute 2 night stay here , as we were going to a wedding locally. I am very glad we did, for a start a dog friendly hotel, upon arrival greeted by friendly staff and that's how all the staff were, happy and friendly, especially the south African chap who really liked our dog, our room was clean and had plenty of brew kit and waters, the breakfast was awesome piping hot and cooked fresh, a great place highly recommended.
Seated no problem even during a busy Sunday for carvery. Crunchy roasties, great meat portions I had gammon and beef which were excellent and the rest of the vegetables really nice I loved the cauliflower and broccoli cheese..very very good.
We visited again the Dartmoor Lodge hoping that things would have changed. Not really. On 23rd August, my friend and I decided to have dinner there. The young girl who was receiving the orders seemed to behave as if it was a heavy chore to do, towards us. We tried to engage in a friendly conversation in our effort to know more about the vegetarian menu and many more, however, she was unwilling to help and smile was not there at all. We had to ask and push to basically get her to go to the chef. Very disappointed by her attitude. Not a good start for a lovely evening out. Later, after we sat outside, half of the order came and most of the stuff was missing, like sauces, salt etc. We asked a couple of other young people who were passing at the time serving other customers to find out what had happened. They were polite, however, responses were not coming into action. I asked for the Manager to come to our table. I was promised they will call him/her. That also did not happen. Very poor service and it is not worth our money.
We met for a family reunion lunch here today. Everything was perfect from start to finish. We were a party of 8 and were allocated a square table which made conversation between us all so much easier than a long table would. The staff were all highly professional, helpful and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious! My steak and ale pie was super tasty and the accompanying vegetables also. For dessert I chose the lime meringue pie with orange ice cream, which was superb and beautifully presented. On the practical side, there is ample parking and the location is conveniently situated just off the A38. We will definitely return!
