The Crown Inn, Bishops Cannings serves honest, traditional Pub food with a warm welcome from Our friendly team. Famillies, Muddy boots & Dogs with well-behaved owners are all most welcome. The Pub offers a spacious garden with play area and spectacular views of St Mary’s Church with ample off-road parking. There is also room for Marquee functions or camping with outside shower and toilet.
Our cook; Claire makes a point of procuring as many of the raw materials for her kitchen as possible from local sources and our printed menus are supplemented by an impressive list of her daily changing blackboard specials. To round off a meal in style our sweet-boards propose Claire’s hard to resist home-made desserts or try from a choice of luxurious ice-cream from the menus.
To compliment the food or if you just fancy a relaxing drink then try our superb Wadworth’s cask-conditioned ales and extensive wine list.
A little gem of a pub set in the small village of Bishops Cannings, in the heart of the beautiful North Wessex Downs. A great Steak and Guinness pie, and a lovely pint of Proper Job. Looking at the menu in general, great food and great value. Well worth a visit if in the area whether passing by or hiking the Kennet and Avon Canal or the Downs
FOOD POISONING! I dined at The Crown over the weekend of 4th November. I suffered terrible food poisoning from eating here, on top of this I am pregnant so had the added worry of making sure the baby was okay whilst this was happening. I ordered the fish, chips and beans with a side of mayonnaise. I suspect it was the mayonnaise as my daughter had a similar meal and was fine. So angry that places don’t have hygiene standards in place especially when vulnerable people (pregnant, children etc) are eating there. Never again will I eat here.
Great evening - BBQ, pizza bd bands. Everyone there working hard to make it a success. Deserved more customers for the effort they put in. Lovely mixed crowd and excellent music.
Very well presented pub with nice garden area. Only called in for a soft drink but food and drink choice looked excellent. Polite friendly staff.
This is a gem of a pub. The food is brilliant, catering for all tastes. The pub itself itself is a beautiful old building and the food is varied, of good quality and served quickly. Best of all there is a camping field which they charge a tenner a night if you are a travelling by bike or foot. All in all an absolute gem which I can't recommend enough.
