The hotel location for me is great but unfortunately everything else is just ‘average’. The rooms are somewhat basic and tired now, the bathrooms are very basic and a little grubby, I also had a struggle trying to get hot water for the shower in the morning which again is not the best. Staff are friendly enough, no issues there at all but I will definitely try another hotel going forward. Sorry Crown Hotel. On a positive note the breakfast selection was great, caters for all tastes and the English breakfast was top notch.

A huge thank you to the Crown for hosting our charity ball. Everyone was absolutely incredible and I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done. All our guests said how impeccable the food and service was and there will definitely be a lot of people returning to The Crown in the future. I just want to say a special thank you to Tori for allowing us to have the beautiful room and Tony who was absolutely amazing yesterday and put my mind at ease if I were unsure of anything. The rooms were fantastic value for money, very clean. Breakfast the next day was fantastic. Thank you so much to everyone at the Crown, you have all been truly amazing.

Food and service can be a bit hit and miss. Sometimes, like the last time we visited when it was quieter on a weeknight, everything is excellent including food and service. It mskes you want to return time and time again. Other times, for example Sundays, service is not as good and food orders get forgotten. Also food is not as good. This makes you think twice about booking again. We do also miss the old Sunday set price menu when you could easily advise a group of friends how much it would cost them for a Sunday gathering. However, It is always very friendly here and the decor is lovely.

On arrival a very abrupt receptionist who treated us like something she had picked up on our shoe. She gave us only information on where our room was. Our room was acceptable but there was dust and it obviously had not been serviced properly. The bar staff were very nice and accommodating but there was a wedding going on and the bridesmaids invited us in. After a few dances an employee of the Crown approached us and told us we could not be with the Wedding party. We explained we hadn’t gate crashed we had been invited through. He was adamant, arrogant and quite honestly I think he just wanted to get the place cleared and for the wedding room to be closed. Absolutely so rude with no let up on the fact we had been ask d to join them. Never staying here again . It was a special meeting up with our friends to exchange Christmas gifts as they live quite some distance from Bawtry and so do we. Owners send in some secret shoppers . Believe me some of your staff need teaching customer care. Iv been in business over 30years myself ….. My staff were taught that customer care and quality of service were essential Denise Blanchard Business Owner

Rooms are a bit dated, bathroom was in need of refurbishment; toilet roll holder and towel rail loose, basin chipped and lime scale stained, tap dripped, shower head needs replacing, noisy extract fan; I could go on. Then in the main bedroom, there are no sockets near to the bed and I hated the wooden surround to the base of the bed as I kept stubbing my toe on it. It was generally clean though and the bed was comfortable to sleep in. Breakfast is good with a wide choice of continental to help yourself to and hot food to order. It’s a shame that parking has to cost £6 for one overnight stay! That seems a bit cheeky.
