Was looking forward to spending a few nights at this pub & a meal after some of the good reviews we read. Sadly this wasn't the case, we were a group of 9 who walked into the pub & felt out of place straight away. Some of our group sat in the pool room whilst we placed drinks order & we asked to play darts. "Sorry pool match on", ok no problem. So moved & sat in main bar but it felt crowed with 9 of us round the table so then moved with dog & small child into the other side bar. "Oh can we play darts on this board." "No sorry got a darts match on! You'd be better on the other board till they come" It is nice to see a small village pub so busy but why when we walked was something not said to us about staying in the main bar area instead of watching us move seats to try to keep out of the way. It definitely felt like a "locals only" kinda pub which is sad as its a lovely pub in a lovely area. Didn't go again.
Had a lovely lunch here mid walk, a lovely traditional pub with a good selection of beers. Food menu was also good including classic pub food like gammon and curries, but also healthier or more lunchlike options.
Pre-planned, mid-point lunch stop - came highly recommended; not disappointed. Lovely location, nice exterior and classic interior. Cosy little bar with open fire and pool table. Had a one off-menu pie, chips, and veg plus a ‘Specials’ pie, chips, and veg - both delicious and generous. That said, still had room for dessert, which was equally tasty and generous - good energy for the second half. Highly recommended!
An undiscovered gem of a pub in a village often overlooked. Very reasonable priced food and beer. £3.80 for a pint is like 2020 prices. Food looked nice but didn't have any. Will return for a stop off on the circular walk through Deepdale. Lots of locals making interesting conversation. Dog friendly. People friendly. Parking at back I think and benches at the front.

The Stable Bar, as befits its name, has a somewhat rustic ambience, and retains many of its original period features such as the sloping flag floor and the horse stalls, in which customers now sit amidst horse tack & hay rack.
