Small, friendly old-world down-to-earth pub in the heart of the galleries area of St Jamesβs, with outside drinking areas at the front, in Masons Yard at the side and in the square at the back.
2 terrestrial TVs. It has been a licensed premise from at least 1732 when Henry Mason, the then occupant who had lived there since 1717, was granted a victualler's licence for an unnamed tavern there. It was known as the Mason's Arms and had changed to the Chequers by 1751. Note that in common with many pubs of this age this one has fairly steep stairs down to the WCs.

Great for a beer and sandwich can't go wrong
Very nice local place to spend time durin the lunch break. We had multiple diffefent perfecr draft beers and of course Fish and Chips which was delicious meal. I would love to re-visit this tavern in the future. At the time of our arrival, it was silent place, but around the lunch time it was absolutelly full.

Small old fashioned pub near to Piccadilly. Nice staff with a real old boozer feel. Can be a bit cramped when busy but has nice atmosphere. The Christmas decorations were amazing adding to the character of the place. Reasonable prices for Mayfair Piccadilly. Food is also very good. One TV usually showing the racing. Also has outside seating for when weather is nice.
