Toilet won't flush properly. Kettle looks manky. Heating is too hot so had to have the window open. Controls were stiff so didn't want to force it With the window open all you can hear is loud party goers. Very bright car parking light streams into the bedroom. The mattress needs changing badly, I could feel springs going into my body and when you move it's so loud and generally very uncomfortable. No fridge for my medicine. Mold on the bath mat. Poo stain in the toilet. Several towels had marks on. Very weak shower, had to have bath even though I just wanted a quick shower. Floor looked like it needed a vacuum

I'll precursor my review in saying I am very happy with my stay and would certainly go back. I loved that the rooms are very spacious as are the hallways etc so manoeuvring a large dog is no problem (or buggies/suitcases). The two beds put together to make the double, as many hotels do, are really strapped together they will not be coming apart or falling in-between as I have had elsewhere and the rooms are very warm. However the mattresses were quite soft and being used to a very firm mattress it did take me a while to fall asleep as well as being used to finding a fridge in most hotel rooms be aware that there isn't one if you need dog food/baby food to be kept chilled. Although I would have loved to go for one of the posher suites, dogs are only allowed in specific rooms and whilst I appreciate them being ground floor and close to an exit for bathroom breaks, the minor repair work in our room/elsewhere in the hotel impacts atmosphere, as an example, there was a gap of missing carpet under the radiator, holes in the bathroom door where the hook has been moved, broken cap on the radiator, cracked TV remote, towel heater cap falling out of the wall etc. The grounds are spacious and very well looked after great if you'd like to stretch your legs or if you are staying with your dog. ALL of the staff are SUPER friendly every single encounter with staff was positive and when I left something in the room they posted it back to me absolutely no problem. The pool and jacuzzi are lovely and weren't very busy when I went and there are some loungers by the pool if you want to sit and read but the changing facilities aren't very luxury and the sauna and steam room quite small I wouldn't book it for a spa weekend but would certainly say its worth using if you are there. Its nice that you can have your dog with you in the bar area though the bar certainly lacks atmosphere and feels more like a waiting room. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, we ordered from the set menu portion sizes are great and whilst I enjoyed everything I had others in our party were underwhelmed and it came out very very quickly. Breakfast is better quality than you get in lots of hotels but wasn't kept very hot. In short, its excellent value for money and for the space, ease and kindness of staff I would absolutely come back but its a shame some minor things hold this place back what could be a really outstanding and luxury experience.

I have been an honorary guest at the Cave Castle Hotel for a year. I couldn't have been more cared for, anywhere. Steve and Kate Hogarth and their staff are an absolute credit to Mel Hogarth's legacy. I have tried most rooms, they are large, beds so so cosy and rooms immaculate. The breakfast is amazing. Continental/full English. Plus fine dining in the restaurant. Gym and pool are a bonus. I cannot praise them enough. I will be very sorry to leave. Rita O'Neill

A lovely looking hotel from the outside. Has nice clean public areas. The restaurant isn't bad, with a well stocked standard hotel breakfast. The rooms are large but sparse, with the "king bed" being two normal beds pushes together.

Absolutely amazing! We had a long weekend here. We were lucky to be given such a beautiful room with lovely views. The food in the main restaurant was to die for, simply superb. Also, the food in the bistro was incredible! Unfortunately due to an injury we were unable to use the gym and beautiful pool. We will definitely return! Thank you to all the fantastic staff that made our stay so enjoyable!
