Went for Sunday Carvery. Food was fantastic and so was the service. Lovely atmosphere. Best homemade Stuffing I've ever tasted.

Great carvery, available on a Sunday and Thursday with 4 meats including Lamb plus a vast selection of vegetables and all the expected sauces and so on. Atmosphere is so homely and you are given a great welcome by Mavis and Bryan. Dog friendly and they get a dinner as well. Can’t recommend enough, what a find.

Very friendly staff, more than happy to have a chat and make you feel welcome. The food was lovely, and there was plenty of it, with information provided by the chef for the carvery.

I Just moved in to the Lampeter area, I asked a passer-by for a nice place that offers a Sunday Roast. The two ladies without considering the options gave directions to the Castle Green, situated the back road of the High Street. This large stone property converted into a restaurant stands paradoxically on the corner . With parking on the side suitable for around 10 vehicles. Like all jewels , they are considered lost until found . On making my way through the entrance heading to the reception I was attended by Mavis one of the proprietors , without a reservation she obliged me and lead the way to my table . The stage was set , the aroma wafting through my nostrils was worth the journey in finding this hidden Gem . Each table positioned to give privacy and yet space between each other . This light and airy bright space makes it easy for spectacle users . In the centre of the room . Diners were greeted with a stunning chandelier that proudly hangs majestically over a huge family dining table accomodating at least 12 persons creating an ambiance and setting the mood . Wooden floor echoed throughout , the atmosphere was buzzing . With families and couples all enjoying the cuisine that Castle Green provides . The Carvery is served not just Sunday but Thursday too. The theatre was unfolding in front of my eyes . The Jewel in the Crown , An Ala -Carte Menu is offered to give diners the true V.I.P. experience . It was my turn to join fellow guests and to be greeted by the Carvery Chef Carrie, the daughter of Bryan and Mavis , who is joined by there Grand Son to complete the family team. Three generations work side by side giving there interpretation of 5 Star Service. They set the bench mark high, with a huge warm welcome. The only place where each customer is treated like a Lord or a Lady. Mavis gives her time and her patience 100% You may come as a stranger but you will definitely leave as a friend. A selection of cooked roasts to choose from Beef, Lamb and Turkey was on the menu today it was presented by Bryan and carved by Carrie a generous portion filled my plate with a selection of two meats, I could have had three but I'm not greedy . All produce come from local farmers, supporting the families that put the meat on the table! I was in my element. A young Waitress helped with serving the vegetables followed by myself adding the roasties , Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Homemade stuffing top lavishly on my plate giving me the Castle Green experience. After unbuckling a notch or two on my belt letting out a sigh, the Carvery Chef said ,"help yourself if you would like any more" what a great encore , of course I declined I had to make sure I had the room for my Dessert. My favourite Crunchy Apple Crumble and custard. Sweet succulent Apple sliced and perfectly formed and not over cooked and left with mush in my bowl. Topped with a crunchy biscuit and hot Creme Anglaise. The Castle Green account with drinks totalled £30.60. Please be aware debit cards are not used as Sterling is greatly accepted. I said I would have to go to the hole in the wall. I was told "pay next time no worries". Wow! No wonder this family has a great following . I was lucky to wander in. It's customary to make a reservation I was told and I can see why. To in sure you have a table. You can see for your self why Lampeter's hot spot is Castle Green. Don't take my word for it, go and see for yourself! That is why I give it Five Stars. Positive vibes throughout. Making this place a true contender to first place. Castle Green the ideal place for any important engagement. Pampered and loved it.

The outside of the pub is nothing special and with no garden and in a backwater road it didnt seem to be anywhere special. How wrong we were. After having a personal recommendation and reading excellent reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to give Sunday Lunch a whirl here. We certainly weren't disappointed. We went in the side door by mistake but once we found the restaurant we were given a genuinely wonderful warm greeting. We were booked for 12:00 (as they were fully booked and could only squeeze us in then) the spread of food at the carvery was incredible. Beef, lamb, pork and turkey with an array of vegetables, Yorkshire Puds, Stuffing and sauces. As much as we wanted. You can even have a slice off each joint if you want! Everyone was SO friendly and genuinely wanted us to enjoy our lunch and have a good time. The meats were all slow cooked and mouth wateringly tender. The dessert table was packed with home made desserts and you can help yourself to whatever you want (if you've got any room left?!) & there's a huge jug of cream to pour on top! We will definitely be back.
