Lovely homely pub with plenty of events to keep it exciting and love the iron maiden theme among other quirky decor to differentiate it from a standard pub. Typical range of beers. Simple food menu done really well and at a good price, especially making use of the 20% food discount before 7pm with a drink order. Had the Jotil Ultimate burger and it was tasty, not too oily and held it's shape until the last bite.

I thought it was closed down. But for me it doesn't matter. I wanted to come to Stratford / Maryland to take a couple of pictures in front of the pub. Imagine how I was totally surprised when noticed on Google maps that Cart & Horses was opened. So together with friend came here to see the place where Iron Maiden had first gig ever. Iron Maiden has been in my life for a long time since 80's. I am from Poznan in Poland and I was lucky to see them in my city twice on their World Slavery Tour in 1984 and Somewhere on Tour in 1986. Seen them in really great times for metal. Last time this year in Nottingham. They are great. It was awesome to be here in Cart & Horses and drink good beer.

A must for Iron Maiden fans. Didn’t eat, kitchen was closed while I was there, but there are nice selection of beers and cocktails as well. Thanks to the bartender, Ruth if I remember well, who gave us a lot of info about the place and let us visiting the concert zone. Thanks.

Went here before Iron Maiden played at The O2 which seems like the perfect occasion. Great atmosphere with fellow concert goers. Certainly a must-visit for any Iron Maiden fan. Lots of Maiden themed memorabilia and artwork. Only down side was when I took back the Neck Oil as it had no fizz. The staff were adamant it was fine but I assured them it wasn't. They reluctantly let me have a different beer but not without purposely overfilling it and slamming it down on the counter to cause overflowing for a good 20 seconds. I appreciate it was a busy day for them but this left a slight sour taste.

FinalCoil,ImaginaryDreamers+TheRiver
Post-metal / progressive act Final Coil return to London to promote their epic third album, The World We Inherited. produced by Russ Russell (Dimmu Borgir, Napalm Death, Wildhearts), and with artwork from Andy Pilkington (Judas Priest, Skindred), the album has been racking up some fantastic reviews from both national and international press, with features in Powerplay, and a recent nomination for track of the week courtesy of Classic Rock presents Prog. The World We Inherited is the third and final part of Final Coil's Persistence Trilogy. The band have received widespread acclaim for the energy and ferocity of their live show, and have made waves supporting the legendary Shonen Knife and appearing as special guests to Mark Ramone. Joining Final Coil are special guests Imaginary Dreamers. A well-respected alternative rock band, Imaginary Dreamers released their debut single, No Regrets, in 2022, with a follow-up titled Right Before You arriving in 2023. The band are currently working on new material. Last but absolutely not least for this special show, Final Coil are re-joined by The River, who made such an impression at Final Coil's album launch at the Black Heart in Camden. A band with an impressive legacy, the River have refined their sound, emerging from the crushing doom of their early works to take on a more elegiac approach that is at times reminiscent of Katatonia, latter-day Anathema, and Low. A truly unique and mesmerising band, The River will open the show in style. https://www.wegottickets.com/event/610727

LOOKING FOR MEDUSA/ BORN AGAIN/ FORTUN
THE FROGS INVASION PRESENTS: " FRENCHY HEAVY METAL NIGHT!!!" LOOKING FOR MEDUSA: born in 2011 in Clermont Ferrand, is made up of 5 musicians, all from the "rock, hard-rock and metal" background, having played the French Metal Scene since the 90s. In 2013, the release of the first EP "Into my Eyes", which sold 500 copies in four months, was hailed by the public as well as by the critics of France Métal Muséum as a nice surprise, the title "Looking for Medusa" having also been selected on the rock compilation Warmachine from the Parisian label Dawn Records. Success was confirmed at the end of 2018 with the release of the first album “De Profundis”, selling several hundred copies in a few weeks. After great experiences alongside renowned artists and groups (Vulcain, Satan Joker, Blaze Bayley, Mass Hysteria, Nashville Pussy, UDO, Heat, etc.), the group's desire is clearly to have fun on stage and to share these moments with the public.... small or large stages.... pubs or festivals..... with the same energy. On the roads of France and elsewhere, these 5 amateurs, enthusiasts and music enthusiasts distill their music without labels or barriers.... for ever more encounters and moments to share. https://lookingformedusa.wixsite.com/officie BORN AGAIN: Heavy, melodic and powerful metal with raw and aggressive vocals from Besançon, France. https://www.facebook.com/bornagainheavy FORTUNATO: With nothing less than 4 Albums under their belt, this Neoclassical Heavy Metal band from Lyon, France, will hit the UK for the first time. BRITISH LION + TONY MOORE'S AWAKE
**VERY SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT*** British Lion ANNOUNCE SPECIAL FUNDRAISING SHOW FOR SMALL VENUE IN DOVER ON MAY 21ST PLUS SHOWS IN LONDON (Cart & Horses), SPAIN & PORTUGAL. BRITISH LION, led by Iron Maiden’s founder Steve Harris, have announced a very special show at The Booking Hall in Dover, on Tuesday 21st May. Their appearance will be as part of a campaign to keep one of Britain’s small music venues still operating. The owner of the Old Harbour Station which houses The Booking Hall Dover is putting the property up for sale. This puts the future of The Booking Hall music venue at immediate threat as there is no guarantee the venue could keep operating under new ownership. The likeliest outcome would be that the building would be purchased by developers, meaning no more music venue. Stuart Cameron, of The Booking Hall, comments: “It's fantastic to welcome back to the venue British Lion for a fundraiser show to help us purchase the Old Harbour Station. The amount of support the venue has received since announcing our (The Booking Hall and Music Venue Music Venue Trust) plans to purchase the building, and securing the presence of a live music venue forever in Dover, has been overwhelming at times. None more so than when Steve Harris and his team reached out to offer their services free of charge, so that all funds can go straight into making the purchase a reality! Also performing on the same evening is Tony Moore, another Iron Maiden legend. We can't thank British Lion, Steve and his team, and Tony Moore enough. It's incredible to see that our little venue in Dover can get such amazing support from such industry veterans.” To coincide with this very special show, British Lion will also return to London’s legendary Cart & Horses venue in Stratford where Iron Maiden played their first-ever gigs. British Lion played three packed out shows there in January and are thrilled to add a fourth show there in what is fast-becoming a home from home. The band will also play summer shows in Faro, Portugal and Seville, Spain in June. Steve Harris says,: “We were very concerned when we heard that The Booking Hall was at risk of closing, it is a fantastic venue and we just wanted to get involved and be a part in keeping this brilliant music venue alive! We're looking forward to playing a few other shows including a return to the Cart & Horses as well as shows in Faro & Seville in July.” 20 th May - Cart & Horses, London - UK 21 st May - The Booking Hall - Dover, - UK 20 th July - Moto Clube Festival, Faro - PORTUGAL 21 st July - Sala Custom, Seville - SPAIN TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW!!! https://www.ticketweb.uk/event/british-lion-tony-moores-cart-horses-tickets/13469584 Artwork by Credit John JOHN McMURTRIE - Music, Stage & Tour Photographer
