Visited 3 times over new year weekend. Good music. Good atmosphere & bar staff were decent. Although there was a smell of sick on New Year’s Eve.
Came here Wed before Christmas after meal with friends. I was driving so asked for tomato juice - didn't have any. Hubby asked what beers they had - didn't have any just Guinness or lagers. Not a good start. Chose alternatives and sat around large tables with high seats. Not that full at 9pm. Had a girl singer on playing guitar and she was excellent if a little loud. Normally really popular as next to restaurants and theatre
Wow, what a place. We popped in for a quick drink and left 7 hours later!!! The live music was fantastic and really made the evening, so much so we returned the next night and did the same again. Drinks were fairly priced, staff were friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was brilliant.
Great bar in the middle of Durham, the live bands that come on playing irsh music is fantastic, always very popular and fun to be in, age from 21 to 50 so good mix of people. Very busy at the bar. Great pub. Downside..summer very very hot with no Aircon, bought fruit cider, had same one in previous pub. This one's taisted acidic, watered down and no flavour, avoid the Magna's dark fruit
Decent pint can’t complain but an “Irish tavern” with a memorial to King George on the wall , the crown above their logo and a sign with “ for her majesty “ is a slap in the face to the struggles and history of Irishmen , the bar staff were as nice as could be but the owners obviously want to cash in quick on the Irish drinking culture but have done it in an utterly disgusting way , no Irish bar should have British memorabilia on the wall reminding the countrymen of hundreds of years oppression, years of famine brought on under the British rule. Eamon De Valera would be turning in his grave. Absolutely disgusting scenes to walk into. the only thing Irish in that bar was myself utterly ridiculous, if you’re coming from home give this place a miss for your own sake
Sorry, we don't have any current news or jobs for this pub.
