A lovely country pub taking nothing too seriously except locally sourcing as much of our produce as we jolly well can!
The Betsey Wynne was built in the heart of Swanbourne on disused allotments and a field known as ‘Spuddle Spits’ back in 2006. Upon walking back from a pub in Winslow late one night, Tom Fremantle, a descendant of Betsey Wynne and of the Fremantle family who still own the Swanbourne Estate, thought, “It’s just too far to walk after a few pints, we need a village pub….” And here we are!
Still, I think they missed a trick not calling it 'Spuddle Spits'.
Went for a birthday lunch with my family from young to old. Our waitress was lovely, attentive without being overly so and very cheerful and nice. The food was great though I felt pretty full afterwards!! Liked it a lot - we'll be back.
This was our first time eating out on christmas day and unfortunately the price paid and experience did not deliver. One word of advice is to check your pre order/menu against what you are served. The christmas day menu advertised was not what was given. Unfortunately for us, it was only when we were halfway through our meal that we realised that other guests had items that we were missing, such as pigs in blankets and stuffing. As for the kids, they were served a completely different main course and their starter wasnt as advertised on the menu. These errors plus the food being average did make the cost harder to swallow Photos: it should have been turkey escalopes wrapped in bacon on the kids menu. And garlic and mozzarella bread on the kids menu(cheese was missing)
Very aesthetically pleasing pub/restaurant located in the sleepy village of Swanbourne. Great selection of beverages and food. Seating at the bar and surrounding tables as well as in the restaurant area which is very smart and the best bit about the restaurant area is the round tables. Groups of 7 or 8 can all converse with each other. I had the beef sirloin Sunday lunch and had it cooked medium rare, it was cooked perfectly. Will definitely be going back for more. Lewis was our waiter and he was very friendly and welcoming and had great knowledge of the menu 👌
Lovely place and lovely food. The staff were all friendly and the food was so good. Great kids menu too! We ordered a few things but the spinach and garlic mushrooms side was something else 🤌 Would definitely go back.
Absolutely LOVED this place when me and some girlfriends went for a weekend away to Bucks! Food was incredible and the people working there were super friendly! It’s expensive but for a reason. I would definitely go back again if in the area and try some of their main menu as I had a roast with it being a Sunday! Rude not to ☺️ One of the best roasts I’ve had out in ages! 👌🏼and they even had doggy ice cream 😍
